Goalkeeper is an autonomous and completely automatic weapon system for short-range defence of ships against highly manoeuvrable missiles, aircraft and fast manoeuvring surface threats.
The system automatically performs the entire process from surveillance and detection to destruction, including selection of the next priority target.
However, manual override is possible at any stage in the sequence.
Goalkeeper's capabilities have been proven many times during sea-going trials. The U.S. trials held in August 1990, during which 3 types of live missiles were destroyed by Goalkeeper, conclusively confirmed the successful results of all previous tests and trials. Goalkeeper truly is a proven CIWS.
In current operations, Goalkeeper provides excellent performance against piracy, insurgency and asymmetric tactics as small and agile vessels in swarm engagements.
An additional adaptation program based on customer experiences, is under study.
