Since more than 30 years Thales Netherlands has delivered Link Y solutions to navies all over the world. Its solution today guarantee interoperability with fielded Link Y equipped platforms.
Link Y is a secure tactical data link operating in either the HF band (beyond line-of-sight) or the UHF band. It supports maritime operations providing automatic near real-time data exchange amongst airborne, ship borne or land-based network participants. Link Y is basically a non-NATO link comparable with the NATO’s Link 11 capability; although it has some advantage features like a double bandwidth. It supports also automatic slot allocation resulting into a flexible network without the need for operator intervention. Therefore a Link Y network is easy to set-up and to operate.
The current TACTICOS Link Y capability incorporates also a relay mode; enabling for example a direct connection towards a shore operations centre. Further, to provide downwards interoperability with older Link Y implementations, the Link Y Mk2 terminal can be set to the Link Y Mk1 mode.
TACTICOS delivers a Link Y capability with seamless integration of user interface and processing with Situation Awareness, Warfare and Aircraft management support.
TACTICOS supports: - Surveillance (air, surface, subsurface and electronic), - Mission management, - Weapon coordination and management, - Aircraft management support
The link resource control capability in TACTICOS provides filter management, link Y terminal monitoring & control, and Link Y network monitoring & control (including network load).
The TACTICOS Link Y software is a proven solution that offers, when desired, interoperability with other non-NATO navies operating Link Y.
Its flexible implementation allows also a configuration into a stand-alone system. Of course it can also be integrated into a national combat management system.
Thales can also provide a growth-path to a non-NATO Link 22 solution, with equivalent operational capability, being downwards interoperable with fielded Link Y implementations.
