Thales Netherlands delivers a proven (tested in life exercise) solution securing interoperability with Link 11, Link 16 and Link 22 equipped platforms. Link 22 is the successor of Link 11 and will replace in time Link 11 equipment of navies within and outside NATO.
Link 22 is a secure, jamming-resistant tactical data link for military platforms (airborne ship borne, land-based) primarily for maritime operations. It can operate on the HF band or on the UHF band; using fixed frequency or frequency hopping radios. Link 22 provides medium-speed automatic near real-time data exchange amongst network participation units. Compared with Link 16, Link 22 network can be (due to automated congestion management) relative easy set-up and managed.
TACTICOS fully supports multi-link (Link 11, Link 16 and Link 22) concurrent operations including data forwarding. It supports not only single-net Link 22 operations, but can also support multi-net link 22 operations.
Basically TACTICOS is configured to provide a Link 11 and Link 22 capability; for larger platforms a Link 16 capability can be added. Of course a Link 22-only capability can also be delivered.
TACTICOS’s flexible implementation enables the integration of other data link processors available on the market.
Besides the Link 22 solution, Thales can also provide a growth-path to a non-NATO solution with an equivalent operational capability being downwards interoperable with fielded Link Y implementations.
TACTICOS delivers a Link 22 capability with:
- seamless integration of user interface and processing with Situation Awareness, Warfare and Aircraft Control.
- full integration with Link 11 and/or Link 16.
- Surveillance (air, surface, subsurface, land and electronic),
- Mission management,
- Weapon coordination and management,
- EW/Intelligence including ESM parametric data exchange
- Aircraft control / aircraft management support
- Formatted text exchange
The link resource control capability in TACTICOS provides link initialisation, filter management and equipment monitoring.
The TACTICOS Link 22 capability is a flexible solution for net-enabled operations in the maritime context that can also be delivered as stand-alone system.
The TACTICOS Link 22 software can also be integrated into a national combat management system.
