Thales Netherlands delivers a proven solution securing interoperability with Link 11 and Link 16 equipped platforms. Today Link 16 is the main tactical data link for many navies within NATO; it is also the primary tactical data link for the US Navy.
Link 16 is a secure, high capacity, jamming-resistant, Line-of-Sight (LOS) tactical data link for all types of military platforms (air-borne, ship-borne & land-based) suitable for maritime and joint operations. It operates on the UHF band using frequency hopping and provides automatic near real-time data exchange amongst network participation units, relative navigation and own force identification capability.
TACTICOS fully supports multi-link (Link 11, Link 16 and Link 22) concurrent operations including data forwarding. Its flexible implementation enables the integration of many data link processors (US-based or non US-based) available on the market.
Optional, a complete, mature, field-proven, Link 16 network monitoring & network management capability can be provided; including dynamic time-slot management.
Optionally Thales can also provide a Joint Range Extension Application Protocol (JREAP) capability enabling Link 16 messages exchange over satellite communication.
Besides the NATO and US versions of Link 16, Thales can also provide a non-NATO solution with an equivalent operational capability.
TACTICOS delivers a Link 16 capability with:
- seamless integration of user interface and processing with Situation Awareness, Warfare and Aircraft Control.
- full integration with Link 11 and/or Link 22.
- Surveillance (air, surface, subsurface, land and electronic),
- Mission management,
- Weapon coordination and management,
- EW/Intelligence including ESM parametric data exchange
- Aircraft control: mission assignment, vectoring, handover & target sorting
- Formatted text exchange
- Navigational data alignment,
The link resource control capability in TACTICOS provides link initialisation, filter management and equipment monitoring.
The TACTICOS Link 16 capability is also suitable for Link 22. It is a proven, flexible solution for net-enabled operations that can be delivered as stand-alone system.
The TACTICOS Link 16 capability can also be integrated into a national combat management system.
